What's new in the user profile and levels

Hello!

You might be reading this at home in the heat, or while you're looking for useful information about Drupal, or who knows, maybe on a towel under an umbrella at the beach (I hope not the latter). The important thing is that today I'm here to briefly break down the latest changes and additions to the Drupal Sapiens platform.

Scoring system and user levels

Many of us need a little incentive; a little "push" to motivate us to get deeper into the Drupal world and start our first contributions to the community. It is important to remember that Drupal is an open source technology and that it depends entirely on the community behind it. This includes not only the development of the technology, but also many other aspects such as documentation, dissemination, etc.

The scoring system provides an opportunity to earn points through contributions in Drupal Sapiens . There are currently two ways to earn points through contributions: articles and snippets . We are looking into new ways to contribute and earn points, with more details to follow soon. When you contribute and your content is approved by the moderation team, you will immediately receive a score based on the type of contribution and the quality of the contribution. You do not have to wait for the content to be published to earn points.

The tier system is not only used to highlight your profile as a contributor in the community; it will also give you access to different rewards. Work is still being done on determining the rewards, but in case you are curious, some rewards could be access to certain resources (training, tools...) for free or at a great discount. More details about the rewards will be given after the holiday period.

You can follow all the progress from your profile page. Obviously you must have a registered account.

TL;DR: Level up by earning points for every contribution you make to Drupal Sapiens. Unlock rewards (coming soon) only by reaching certain levels.

Changes in the user registration process

The user registration process is now more user-friendly and has a better design. You can take a look at it if you want. Also, new registrations do not require an email confirmation immediately. This makes signing up for Drupal Sapiens more accessible, simpler and faster.

New user fields

Some additional fields have been added to your profile:

  • What's on your mind? - Share a quick message or note on your profile with the community!
  • Work modality - In-person, remote or hybrid.
  • Country

More fields will be added soon so you can customize your profile to suit your needs.

Design improvements

Overall, new design changes have been made. The most notable are on the user profile page, but they have also been made progressively throughout the rest of the portal. Tables are now fully responsive, so they will no longer cause problems on mobile devices.

And that's all for now. Leave your comments and suggestions below. See you on the nodes!
